This Full Moon is happening at 9° of Aquarius and will be most potent for people with personal planets or the ascendant at 6° to 12° of the fixed signs (Leo, Taurus, Scorpio, Aquarius) In my practice, the purpose of astrology is to give us the ability to see the divinity in the shifting circumstances of our daily lives to help us surrender to what we cannot change, the courage to change what we can, and the wisdom to know the difference. If you are interested to know what part of your chart will be impacted by any transit, you can book a reading with me.

The beginning of this lunar cycle likely left a heavy impression upon us as we confronted the rotting material of past actions, secrets or subconscious beliefs. Pluto retrograde has had us reviewing what lies beneath the physical structures of our lives, whether it’s the soil itself or the psychological compulsions that directed us towards them. A sudden burst of motivation was likely born from this realization, urging us to make decisions about what to do with what we can’t deny any longer. Many of us are finally seeing that the structures we’ve created are condemned and we must demolish them all the way down to the foundation. As destruction begets creation, we have an opportunity to express ourselves authentically now that the rubble has been cleared and construction is well on its way.

As the moon approaches the apex of the cycle there’s increasing tension with a motivation for our individuation and self-expression that is contrasted by cultural problems that require collectivist solutions. While there is no ‘I’ in ‘we’ it’s important that we seek out a community that does not sacrifice our individuality on the altar of conformity, but encourages us to be our authentic selves out loud. We also must remember that our unique expression is not meant only to serve the self, but to serve the world. When we are unabashedly ourselves we are a vital asset to the communities we rely on. This Full Moon is an invitation to balance “all for one and one for all” in our intimate relationships out to all of humanity.

The day of the full moon is dynamic as not one, but two other aspects will be perfecting the same day. Namely Mercury in Virgo will be opposite Saturn in Pisces while Mars in Virgo trines Jupiter in Taurus. Saturn poses an obstacle or restriction that Mercury must pause to appraise. We may experience rigid thinking, a new found mental maturity, serious talks, or responsibility to our spiritual ideals in our communications. In Virgo, light on their feet Mercury will have no shortage of creative, down-to-earth solutions to the concerns of Saturn, while Mars in Virgo is given by Jupiter in Taurus a powerful boost of both energy and raw material to quickly pivot with the new plan. As we put our new solutions into action, we may find powerful allies coming to assist. With any Mars Jupiter contact, fortune favors the bold, so swing for the fences. If you have a big project, particularly with decluttering, or reorganizing efforts, now is a great time to make moves.

This Full Moon is happening at 16° of Virgo and will be most potent for people with personal planets or the ascendant at 13° to 19° of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces). This lunation is excellent for releasing perfectionism, limiting beliefs, and to reflect on the power of perception and imagination. In my practice, the purpose of astrology is to give us the ability to see the divinity in the shifting circumstances of our daily lives to help us surrender to what we cannot change, the courage to change what we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

This lunation is the culmination of the wishful and dreamy desire planted at the New Moon in Pisces. The beautiful fantasy we came into contact with then is being contrasted by the Full Moon in Virgo. Virgoan energy is all about how the details add up to outcomes far down the road. With the ability for far reaching vision and idealism as well as the keen awareness of the Earthly bounds in which we all are subject to, Virgo is preoccupied with the need to understand what is necessary in order to bring this ideal into the physical. Unfortunately, this skill for vision to both accurately assess the current circumstances and to envision their perfect outcome can lead to a spiritual dissatisfaction for the ways in which the material representation can never quite measure up to the ideal. With the Full Moon opposite its ruler Mercury in Pisces and square to Mars in Gemini there may be a sense of frustration with being able to see the gap between what we want and where we currently are but being unable to grasp or formulate a coherent plan of attack.

As this Full Moon perfects and increasingly agitates the now activated Mars and Neptune Square, it will be easy to be spurred into a disoriented frenzy of action in a vain attempt to move the needle forward. Mars, God of war and conflict, is being prodded by Neptune, God of illusions and fantasies. Mars likes to fight and win for its own satisfaction, but Neptune demands that its actions be in service to a collective dream, to dissolve its personal will and individual desire into a collective force. Mars in Gemini wants the facts at hand, to understand the lay of the battleground but Neptune casts a fog of war that makes Mars’s investigative vigor impotent. We may fight for, or with, collective illusions and come into contact with the power and force of the imagination. To use a parable from Vedantic philosophy, we can consider the story of The Rope and the Snake. A man walking at night along a path sees a snake barring his passage and in fear runs back from where he came. In the morning, he goes to take the same path and finds in place of the snake a coiled rope. We are meant to understand that without full knowledge of the reality of a situation that we can act according to our misconceptions as if they are true. In Neptune’s nebulous and reality warping sphere of influence and Mars’s desire for conflict and domination, we can find ourselves mistaking perception with truth and wage war on its behalf.

Presently, it is not advised to start any difficult conversations that can be postponed. Mercury, the ruler of communication, is in a distressed and weakened state at this time. With the current energies, it would be incredibly easy to unintentionally cause a misunderstanding that fuels a ruthless verbal vivisection between you and a loved one, creating more pain and confusion in the process. A constructive use of these energies could look like a creative use of language, such as poetry or journaling, to express our felt anger and pain without the need to comprehend it. As Pisces represents the emotional waters of our inner and collective worlds, it is aligned with what can be felt but never defined. Mercury’s desire to intellectualize the Piscean part of our charts can leave it frustrated and at a loss for words. The function and beauty of Pisces is not an intellectual pursuit and trying to understand and pin down its meaning will block the flow of experience the Fishes wish to bring to us.

On the same day of the Full Moon, we see Saturn move into Pisces, adding to the focus on the Pisces area of our charts. Where ever you find Pisces in your chart, the planetary taskmaster will bring the need for discipline, restriction, release, solitude, and restructuring. Particularly in Pisces, we can see dedication to a higher power or cause that is practical and grounded. Positively, it makes deeply devoted spiritual figures, like monks and disciples, a feeling of responsibility to abide by a loving ethic, and disciplined artists and creatives. Negatively, it can manifest as emotional isolation and loneliness, a harsh contraction of our ability to empathize, as well as a bleak and pessimistic imagination. With the dynamic and restless energies present, now is a great time of reflection and reframing; To pause and wait for information as much as possible with the awareness that we likely do not have all the facts. While we are unable to control or completely avoid the energies, we can move with them wisely. So as always, I thank you for taking the time to arm yourself with the knowledge of astrological energies. This Full Moon is happening at 16° of Leo and will be most potent for people with personal planets or the ascendant at 13° to 19° of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius). In my practice, the purpose of astrology is to give us the ability to see the divinity in the shifting circumstances of our daily lives to help us surrender to what we cannot change, the courage to change what we can, and the wisdom to know the difference. If you are interested to know what part of your chart will be impacted by any transit, you can book a reading with me.

The start of this lunation cycle began with Venus and Saturn conjoined in the sky, signaling the bittersweet end of a longer cycle around love, relationships, creativity, desire and pleasure. This full moon is shining a light on what chapter has needed to end to bring about the birth of the next. If you find yourself moving through an ending, give appreciation and love to what you’re letting go for bringing you thus far. Saturn has come to appraise the growth of Venus and as we find a door closing, we speculate upon and desire a new door to open. A vision of the ideal relationship, project, or style may have developed for us at the New Moon which we may be rigid and perfectionistic in our thinking about. As the Moon in Leo opposes the Sun it challenges this Saturnian perfectionism. It asks us how can we embody the mature, intellectual, conceptualizations we have in an authentic, warm-hearted, and self-expressive way. This challenge may show up externally as we’re confronted with the contrast of our visions and the reality we’re living in. This Full Moon can feel as though there are only two options that can be weighed, either this or that with no middle ground to speak of. However, Uranus, God of rebellion, presents a third radical option.

Uranus in Taurus electrifies the Sun and Moon creating a breakthrough that liberates us from the bind of our perfectionism and the desire to hold onto the past. Uranus may strike us with inspiration on a new approach to move closer to our ideal without being held hostage by it. For some it may come as a sudden conflict in relationship or perspective that may require us to shift our ideals altogether. For others it could be sudden events that present a new solution that we didn’t consider. However it manifests, this Taurian Uranus is the archetypal energy of an earthquake, through its destruction it allows us to renew what doesn’t withstand and can unearth resources we didn’t know we had. This creates a terrain that is shifting and unpredictable, forcing the fixed energies of Leo and Aquarius to be flexible in order to adapt to what is instead of staying stuck in what was. While the inability to control or know what Uranus will do can cause us anxiety, especially those with heavy fixed placements, it is ruled by an exalted benefic Venus in Pisces and will likely be a welcome positive change, though an uncomfortable one. Resistance to this change by willfully maintaining perfectionism will create gridlock and cause more discomfort than needed. We have to remember that while ideals are required to guide our lives by they are not the end in and of themselves and if we are both flexible and disciplined in our approach we can bring the heart of our ideals into manifestation.

This New Moon is happening at 16° of Gemini and will be most potent for people with personal planets or the ascendant at 13° to 19° of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces). This Full Moon is a culmination of what began around November 23rd so if you journal it may bring more clarity to this forecast to go back and review any entries from around this time. In my practice, the purpose of astrology is to give us the ability to see the divinity in the shifting circumstances of our daily lives to help us surrender to what we cannot change, the courage to change what we can, and the wisdom to know the difference. The bright spark of optimism birthed at the beginning of the cycle is challenged by retrograde Mars in Gemini. Mars looks at the ideals of Sagittarius with an interrogative force. In its’ retrograde phase, it will dissect this vision first before its’ ready to move into action. Mars is supported in this endeavor by Saturn in Aquarius, stabilizing and grounding it in practicality and social consciousness. With a journalistic vigor, Mars wants to know the how, when, what and where of this optimistic belief, but Jupitarian Sagittarius does not bog itself down in such details. This is an excellent time to evaluate the big picture idea planted at the start of the cycle and get clarity on the details, breaking down the ideal vision into digestible pieces. The biggest temptation for Gemini energy at this time is to get lost in the information and forget the larger purpose of it. Sagittarius on the other hand has the opposite problem, being unable to see the trees for the forest. If we are able to strike the balance between faith driven Sagittarius and data curious Gemini we can both use our curiosity for a greater purpose and align our greater purpose with the data present.

This is a dynamic culmination of both the Full Moon and Mars retrograde, amplifying the energy of each planet. This interrogation led by a Gemini Mars against the idealistic and visionary Sagittarius Sun may cause you to question the optimism planted at the New Moon. In retrograde, Mars is asking us to look inward at where this ideal or belief came from and to question its validity before committing to it. Is it something you want for yourself authentically or was this vision planted within you by the world around you? This process may require us to pivot and adapt our initial vision, which can be painful, especially if we took our belief for granted. The mutable energies present however, are deeply supportive of the flexibility required of us. On the other hand, if we don’t take the time to resolve this conflict internally, we are at risk of creating this conflict externally with those around us, particularly with authority figures, such as our bosses or even our fathers. If we heed the planetary energies and look within, however, we may find that the beautiful vision we’ve been chasing with reckless abandon looks different when Mars puts it on the dissection table, but the adversity of this time will bring clarity and renewed purpose to this ideal once we begin to piece it back together. By the end of this process, we will be able to move forward with clear confidence instead of blind faith.

This Lunar Eclipse is happening at 16° of Taurus and will be most potent for people with personal planets or the ascendant at 13° to 19° of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius). In my practice, the purpose of astrology is to give us the ability to see the divinity in the shifting circumstances of our daily lives to help us surrender to what we cannot change, the courage to change what we can, and the wisdom to know the difference. If you are interested to know what part of your chart will be impacted by any transit, you can book a reading with me here.

To understand the significance of an eclipse, it’s important to understand how the eclipse cycle works. Eclipse cycles, symbolically, are very similar to the Lunar cycle of New Moon to Full Moon to New Moon, where we have a seed being planted on the New Moon, it comes into fruition on the Full Moon and dissolves as the Moon approaches the end of the cycle to restart it all over again. The difference, however, is that eclipse cycles last longer than the typical 29-30 days of a regular Lunar cycle, starting with the Solar Eclipse, the New Moon, and developing over the next 6 months until the Lunar eclipse, the Full Moon. Eclipses in and of themselves are incredibly potent energetically and are associated with the blocking of light, or awareness. Symbolically, this can indicate the difficulty to see how the cycle may develop, how it may impact us, or even our participation in it. It will likely take much longer for us to understand the full implications of the cycle, especially since they develop over multiple months and are repeated only every 18 years. This Lunar Eclipse is the fruition of what was planted around April 30th during the Taurus Solar Eclipse of this year, as well as a culmination of the current lunar cycle of the last 2 weeks. It will bring more insights into this transit to think back to early May and what seeds may have been planted at that time that are now blooming. The next 6 months will be a time of reconfiguration and dispersal of what has been created.

The energy around this Lunar Eclipse is a reactivation of the Saturn and Uranus square that has been present with us for the last 2 years. Saturn, the planet of discipline and restriction, has been in a conflict with Uranus, the planet of rebellion, freedom and unpredictability, and as the Moon joins Uranus in the sky opposite the Sun, this lunation is colored by the tension inherent to what is established and what rebels against it. In the wake of the Solar eclipse two weeks ago, a collective discovery of a new obsession, passion, relationship or deep seated desire has been awakening, bringing awareness to difficult emotions, thoughts or memories to be released. This new desire may have created a sudden revelation around what we have taken for granted as stable and unchanging in our lives. Uranus destabilizes and liberates us from that which is stagnant and decayed, showing us what is the terra firma of our lives. Collectively, the Staurn and Uranus square has been a stress test of the infrastructure necessary for modern life. This is the last hurrah of this stressful transit and what survives after can be relied upon with confidence.

A Full Moon in Taurus, where she is exalted, is usually a time of creature comforts, simple pleasures, and sensual beauty, but with Venus, the ruler of Taurus, in Scorpio, the goddess takes on a dark, taboo and even obsessive energy. The new passion born under the Solar Eclipse that has fueled us to purge the old also asks to inform what will take its place. We must be mindful to honor it but not allow it to rule. The obsessive nature of a Venus in Scorpio is heightened by the North Node, giving it a signature of unquenchable thirst and reckless abandon. While the sudden inspirations and insights seem to demand immediate action, Saturn advises us to find ways to integrate them in moderation. Mercury moves into a perfect conjunction with the Sun, communicating what has been brewing since the Solar Eclipse. Sudden revelations and disclosures around deeds done in the dark are par for the course. The difficult emotional truths spoken through the heart of the Sun ask to be included in our rebuilding of what has been dismantled by Uranus. Our new motives will drive the new necessities of life. If we deny what is growing within the primordial shadow of ourselves we may reap the consequences of our darkest instincts and drives gone unchecked. The gift of this eclipse is to give voice to what is blooming in the dark so that we may care for it with conscious awareness.

The Full Moon is happening at 16° of Aries and will be most potent for people with personal planets or the ascendant at 13° to 20° of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) and the air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius). In my practice, the purpose of astrology is to give us the ability to see the divinity in the shifting circumstances of our daily lives to help us surrender to what we cannot change, the courage to change what we can, and the wisdom to know the difference. If you are interested to know what part of your chart will be impacted, please revisit the New Moon in Libra post and find your rising sign in the horoscopes. The Full Moon is the manifestation of what was planted at that time.

This Full Moon is happening in conjunction with Chiron, the wounded healer. In Aries, he highlights the unhealed collective wound of both hyper-independence and co-dependency. If we have been unable to articulate or maintain our boundaries in the past, we likely carry the false belief that others are not to be trusted and are unreliable or we are unable to care for ourselves and are subject to the whims of others. We can now see, with the reflective light of the Moon, why there was so much contention to the New Moon’s aim of social cohesion, harmony, and balance and can begin the work to heal the imbalance of personal power and responsibility in our relationships and communities.

This lunation is assisted by the difficult energies of Saturn, the planet of necessity, and Mars, the planet of confrontation. Saturn assists us in the necessary task of reviewing our boundaries and Mars helps us to enforce them. We may begin to see that the ways we failed to honor our boundaries led us to believe that other people were unsafe to rely on or we must sacrifice our agency in the name of unsettled peace. It may be tempting to verbally lash out at others for their trespasses against us, however, it’s important to consider how we may not have known our own boundaries until they were crossed. We now have the ability to articulate them decisively thanks to that experience. We cannot blame others for not knowing better if we did not know better ourselves.

Though it may be challenging to say ‘no’ or communicate to our loved ones what we will no longer tolerate, all of this work is in service, ultimately, to a higher octave of justice and balance. If we can learn to walk the tightrope of honoring ourselves as individuals and honoring others in our community, we will find that both benefit. In order to do this, we need to let go of the resentments that keep us locked into believing that we cannot rely on others or that we cannot rely on ourselves. When healthy, Libra energy is able to discern how and when an action is a justice to all. When unhealthy, Libra energy is a blind servant to surface-level peace and people-pleasing. When we are able to trust ourselves by consistently maintaining and honoring our boundaries, we can fearlessly make connections and rely upon our relationships to nourish us in joy and harmony.

I’m Aly, your friendly mystic, here with the astrological weather for this upcoming Full Moon on September 10th. This full Moon will most powerfully affect those of you with planets in both the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) from degrees 14-20° and in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) from degrees 2-11°. As always, my intention with these forecasts is to give you foreknowledge of the archetypal energies so that you can consciously allow them to move through your life constructively and without resistance.

This lunation cycle began with the review of our social agreements and relationships. We now find the full Moon in Pisces shifting the perspective of this question away from the details and verbal negotiations towards interconnection and the feeling of union. Its conjunction with Neptune muddies the waters of where we start and others begin and serves as a counter-balance to willful and argumentative Gemini Mars and the analytical and perhaps critical Virgo Sun. This energy of losing the boundaries between one another challenges Mars in Gemini which prefers clear definitions and severance. We may desire to meld ourselves with our partners, family members, friends and spirit but Mars in mental, and intellectual Gemini squares the Moon and refuses to release its hold to the facts at hand, and the Sun wants to know that the issues within our social contracts it’s been analyzing since the start of the cycle will be addressed.

It should be understood that each planet in this story brings a valuable piece to the table if one is able to strike the fine balance of these energies. The Sun illuminates our need to improve the harmony of our agreements and relationships, particularly since Venus has joined the Sun in Virgo and Mercury is stationing retrograde in Libra. The Moon conjunct Neptune yearns for us to remain open and connected emotionally as love is the highest ideal of all relationships and is the only way to achieve harmony. Mars, in contrast, is the energy of self-advocacy. It creates the necessary friction and discomfort to motivate us to verbalize our dissatisfactions, needs, and defend our boundaries if violated. Unlike the Moon at this time, it is not bogged down in memories and emotional connectivity to forget or dismiss maltreatment, agreements, or promises.

A unique feature of this lunation is the presence of tight squares and oppositions that present challenges and tensions throughout the cycle. We have been feeling over the last two weeks the development of Mercury in Libra opposing Jupiter in Aries. The axis of Aries and Libra again highlights the theme of “me versus we”. Aries energy is fiercely independent and bold, and when negative, selfish and callous. Libra, on the other hand, seeks to balance and harmonize, but when negative, is indecisive and people-pleasing. Jupiter in Aries is not afraid to broadcast what it believes while Mercury in Libra seeks to smooth out the harsh edges of Jupiter’s willful and individualistic philosophy with a more collective perspective. Ultimately, balancing Jupiter’s bombast and brutal honesty through the lens of Mercury’s diplomatic delivery and optics can help with communicating our beliefs without stepping on toes unnecessarily. With both planets in retrograde, it’s a good time to review and revise your philosophies and ideals and identify whether or not they balance the rights of the individual with the needs of our relationships and a greater community.

The last half of this cycle will be characterized by the heightening tensions of our individual desires and beliefs and what is required from us by others. The last quarter Moon happens in conjunction with the perfecting square of Mars and Venus and the opposition of Mercury and Jupiter. What is brought to light by this full Moon will require readjustment to resolve the increasing friction between these opposing energies and integrate solutions that are “all for one and one for all”. By the end of the cycle, Mercury will be poised to exit Libra, returning to the degree it was at the new Moon, putting the social balancing act on the back burner. When it returns to Libra at the end of September, retracing its steps for its final review before the next new Moon on October 2nd, it will have the benefit of the work and experience of the current lunation as it drafts and implements new and harmonious social contracts.

This month in particular contains what I believe to be the most dynamic and challenging aspect of the year. I’m hoping this forecast can help you consciously navigate these transits, channel their energy constructively and see the beauty of the cosmos as the planets weave this energy through our lives. For those of you with fixed planets or rising signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius) from about 17° to 22°, this transit will likely be more challenging for you on a personal level, but all of us will feel this.

As many of you are well aware, we are in the midst of the Mars, Uranus and North Node conjunction in Taurus (just beginning to separate) and you have likely felt the restlessness and perhaps witnessed the explosiveness of this transit either personally or in the world at large already. As Mars moves through this conjunction, he reignites the tension of the Saturn/Uranus square that we have been feeling since late 2021 and which will nearly perfect again in mid-October. Uranus, the Promethean impulse, the rebel (hopefully with a cause), and genius, unpredictable, and freedom-seeking is joined by Mars, the god of war, who adds fuel, heat, agitation, and the willingness to fight for what it values and needs in life-sustaining Taurus. These two planets alone are perfectly described by an explosion, sudden, violent, and destructive. The North Node (NN) brings these energies to the extreme as many will feel compelled to win at all costs against anything or one that they perceive as oppressive. The challenge of this transit is to be certain that what you are attempting to detonate in your life is done for the right reasons. The NN often will compel you to do something just for the sake of it to try to quench an unquenchable desire. Some walls need to be torn down, others are needed to hold the roof over your head. Saturn in socially conscious Aquarius confronts this energy and demands to know if this is sustainable, necessary, practical, and particularly if it is for the greater good of humanity but it may also attempt to hold back the revolution in the name of the current social order and political paradigm. Uranus finds no better counterpart than Saturn in the sky. Saturn, the god of restriction, boundaries, discipline, and structure is the perfect foil to Uranus’s freedom-loving,  experimental, liberating, rebellious energy. This dynamic has left many of us feeling like a bottle of shaken champaign when Mars comes to release an explosive amount of energy and we can either pop off the cork or allow the bottle to shatter.

This Full Moon (shown above) will highlight this tension as the Sun in Leo will have moved into an opposition with Saturn as the Moon joins it in Aquarius. The Mars, Uranus, and NN transit colors this month’s lunar cycle as the full Moon will challenge these energies from cool, detached, socially responsible Aquarius. The willful, expressive, individualistic, and passionate seed planted at the beginning of the Moon cycle is made to contend with and address the need for order, restriction, and a disciplined appraisal of its goal without egoic desire. The culmination of this lunation asks us “How do we honor the enthroned inner spirit’s need for liberation and freedom as individuals in the context of community, social order, practical limitations, and ultimately the greater good without snuffing out the revolution altogether?” There is a need to maintain the authenticity and warmth of the Leo dimension while also maintaining an Aquarian arm’s length distance from the rage and discontent so that we can strategically demolish the systems and structures, both within and without, that created the crisis in the first place. The waning phase of this cycle will allow us to clean up the shrapnel of whatever restraint or structure was demolished in the first half of the month as well as tend to any casualties that we may have suffered as a result. As Mars moves into Gemini on the 20th, where it will remain for the next 8 months, the heat for Saturn and Uranus cools down considerably. The fixed signs will be able to catch their breath as they prepare for the last Saturn/Uranus square next month.
